Menu Monday

Hi Cousin C!  It was lovely to have you over and make some Sour Cream Chocolate Cupcakes with you!!!  (oops - sorry no pics of that one).

So, a bit more time was spent in the kitchen this past week.  It was a pleasant time in the kitchen.  On the menu board was Cinnamon Pull-Apart for an afternoon tea at a friend's house.  Sour Cream Chocolate Cupcakes made with the little ones.  Caramel Popcorn for a little self-indulgence.  And then German Pancakes, Aussie Meat Pies and Filipino Adobo - I went international this past week!  Also, we finished the last of our Farmer's Market steak cuts, so that will be the last of our steak indulgences until next month.

Sizewise - not really a party pie, and not really a four 'n' twenty pie; more like a muffin pie!  (Ps new recipe)

Cheesy ham and broccoli pasta - soooo yum!

Garlic and Basil pesto salmon with rice furikake - good for the body; good for the soul.  Yep - that's my "I need help and I'm really hungry" chopsticks.

German Pancakes - easy peasy in the oven - served with cream and homemade boysenberry jam. They were good!(Another PS. new recipe)

Tooth rotters aka caramel popcorn aka addictive
It's a bit cooler this coming week, so I'm thinking :-
- chili con carne
- spinach lasagna rolls
- chicken schnitzel (or do I up the ante to chicken parmigiana?)
- and some steamed fish, maybe?
And I have a yearning for some homemade bread .... hmmm yeah - freshly-baked, warm from the oven, homemade bread with a big slather of butter.

What's on your menu this week?

Monkey See; Monkey Do

I was just monkeying around the kitchen... I had some dough leftover from baking dinner rolls and cinnamon buns (yeah - it was alot of dough!) and I had seen this idea from the Pioneer Woman previously.  Cinnamon, butter, sugar and a dash of sweetened condensed milk - yes please!!!  Ok, so maybe, just maybe, I accidentally on purpose put some dough aside just so I could indulge in this .... well, indulgence. And what an indulgence - worse still, an easy indulgence as I already had the dough.  Caramelised cinnamon sugar with a bit of bread covered with sweetened condensed milk.  I don't think I really need to say more. And, in honour of Father's Day, we had special "WE heart DADDY" pancakes... ok ok - I ran out of time, energy and ideas this year.  (Note to self - try harder next year!) Don't mock the banana - at $12.99/kg this is a real treat.  Unfortunately Daddy was too slow and Little Miss M took it and ate it.  It might be Father's Da

Choices choices....

Should I eat the orange or should I make an orange cake?  ORANGE CAKE, of course!!! Now, should I make Orange Poppy Seed Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, or Orange Cake with Orange Icing?  Hmmm - a quick look in the fridge (oops - no cream cheese) and a nostalgic feeling for those supersweet iced cakes from the supermarket and the Orange Cake with Orange Icing won the day. Next decision - should I have a slice now warm out of the oven, or should I let it cool, ice it and then have a slice?  BOTH!!! The recipe can be found here .  I added a couple of drops of Orange Oil in the frosting as my orange was not orange-y enough. Citrusy, moist, and extra yummy with some Girly Grey Tea (from T2).  Perfect morning tea.  Now what to do for afternoon tea... If you want to make the Orange Poppy Seed cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, then just add 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds to the cake recipe above.  And to make the cream cheese frosting, you can use this...  (I
